Top 8 places you have to visit in Myrtle Beach, SC

I had the opportunity to visit Myrtle beach last fall to not only celebrate my birthday but me and my partner’s anniversary.

I had an absolute blast, he planned it all so everything we did was a complete surprise to me. We drove from Charlotte, NC and it was a mere 4 hour drive, it honestly didn’t feel that long as we made a few stops and made the trip fun. It was my first time in South Carolina but my partner used to go on vacation every year with his family when he was a kid so he was pretty familiar with the area.

The Prince Resort

We stayed at the Prince Resort and it was wonderful. Our one bedroom was bigger than we thought it would be, the pictures didn’t do any justice to how big the room was. We had a beautiful ocean view and a large private balcony to enjoy it from. The resort felt more homey than a hotel room and came with a full kitchen, a cosy living room and a bathtub that was big enough to fit two people. There’s a pool as well as a jacuzzi to enjoy and the resort is only steps away from the Cherry Grove Pier that I unfortunately didn’t have time to visit but it’s definitely worth stopping by when you get a chance.

Sky Wheel Myrtle Beach

If you like views like me, the Sky Wheel should definitely be on your to do list. Paying $16 per person to see the full view of the beautiful ocean and boardwalk, while sitting across the love of your life or best friend, maybe family is a great experience trust me. The sky wheel is situated as a centerpiece of the 1.2 mile long ocean front Boardwalk and promenade in Myrtle Beach. It’s also close to everything, restaurants, great shopping stores and museums.

Helicopter Adventure Tour

Out of everything we did, the helicopter adventure tour happened to be my favorite! It was my first time on a helicopter and it was quite the experience! Their tour start at $20 per person for their 2 mile introductory flight and they offer several other tours that go as far as 40-42 miles in the air. We did the 2 mile tour over broadway at the beach around Myrtle Waves, we also viewed the Ripken baseball fields before coming down at the heli-pad. It honestly didn’t feel long enough, after the tour we were whining about how we should have taken the 8 mile flight, which would have been enough time but it was a great experience nonetheless. Buy your tickets online a day before so you can skip the line.

The Crazy Mason Milkshake Bar

I have to thank TikTok for this one. Trust me you are going to want to stop by The crazy mason milkshake bar. It’s a fun place to hang out, unfortunately we only had enough time to stop by for a treat but they have a bowling area, pool tables, arcade, indoor mini golf, darts, shuffleboard and a full restaurant and bar. I strongly believe most people stop by for their insanely delicious dessert. I had milkshake with all sorts of toppings but my favorite was the cheesecake that they put right on top! I could drive 4 hours just for their dessert, seriously.

Selfie World

If you like to be creative and like to take pictures, Selfie World is a great place to stop by. Arguably the most instagrammable place I’ve ever seen. It’s only $20 per person. My partner and I had the best time as we were the only people there at the time, we had the whole studio to ourselves. The owner told us that it never happens and that we were lucky! We had so much fun! Go with your friends, family or your partner, you’ll have a great time!

Ripley’s Aquarium

I’ve never been to an aquarium so Ripley’s Aquarium was definitely a fun experience! There are two levels in the building and a lot to see. My favorite was getting up close and personal with stingrays, we got to touch and feed them in the water, they’re so friendly. I ended buying myself a stuffed stingray. I saw the most beautiful, exotic fish, thousands of fascinating creatures, sharks and jellies. This is definitely something to do on a fun day out.

The beach

I had gone to the beach once before but it wasn’t a very enjoyable experience as I was working. This time I got to do whatever I wanted! I was so excited to go to the beach and do nothing! We packed some food, drinks and snacks in a backpack, grabbed some beach chairs and towels and enjoyed the sun. I walked by the water and listened to the beautiful sounds of the ocean, then later laid on my towel and tanned a little. I realized that I don’t like swimming in the ocean, definitely prefer the pool but it’s so nice to spend some time at the beach.

Ripley’s believe it or not

I watched Ripley’s believe it or not growing up so I was curious to see what they had over at the museum. It was my least favorite place to go to only because some things they had in there were cringe and a little scary. I will say though, it’s full of interesting facts and figures, it’s interactive and educational. There is a matchstick model of Harry Potter’s Hogswart that is phenomenal. There are shrunken heads,   contortionist, wax models of the most tattooed woman, basically something for everyone.

Hopefully you get to explore and enjoy Myrtle Beach as much as I did!
