Have you been to Atlanta Georgia yet? It’s quite a busy city, there’s always something to do. I took it upon myself to visit so I can come back and share with you, my readers, what you absolutely can’t miss when you visit. Apart from the traffic, Atlanta is a great place to be if you want to eat good food and have a great time.
There are 3 important things that I look for when I travel, aesthetic AirB&B’s, historical places and instagramable restaurants/coffee shops. There’s nothing like living in a home that feels cozy and inviting, Visiting cities and learning about it’s history and well.. I’ll never say no to coffee shops and European looking restaurants. I love those.

Things you have to do in Atlanta Georgia
Tiny tattoos
I have one rule when I travel and that is to make at least one unforgettable memory, and this was it for Atlanta Georgia. Getting matching tattoos with my husband. If you feel brave and risky enough I highly recommend going to Itty Bitty Ink. Lette, the owner was quick to respond to all of my questions. I was quite anxious as this was my first tattoo but she put me at ease. I love her brand, and what she stands for, I love that she only does tiny tattoos because that’s exactly what I was looking for, less intimidating. She got done fairly quickly with both my husband and I, the tattoos came out exactly the way that I envisioned them.
Aesthetic AirB&B
I like to stay in tiny homes with aesthetics, neutral colored homes if you will. We stayed at this sweet place in Decatur, quite a drive from Uptown/Midtown Atlanta but that’s on us for booking a week prior our trip. We had a wonderful stay nonetheless. It was a small home that had everything you could possibly need and it was very clean as well. I love a clean home. The only reason I probably wouldn’t book this place again is because of distance. Otherwise I loved it, the hosts were so friendly.
Restaurants
Murphy’s Cafe
Murphy’s restaurant is located in the heart of Virginia Highland and has been open for more than 40 years, talk about experience! I am a sucker for restaurants that look like they should be in Europe somewhere, and that’s exactly what Murphy’s was. Unfortunately we had just missed the brunch menu which everyone talked about. I browsed through the menu and I can see why. It had crab cake Benedict, French toast with caramelized banana, and whiskey maple syrup as well as avocado toast among other things. That’s enough to make my mouth water.
The lunch menu was just as good, I had shrimp and grits and my husband had the chicken, spinach and bacon burger with Mac and cheese. The food was delicious and the service couldn’t have been better. I would rate the experience along with the food a solid 8/10.
26 Thai Midtown
If you have not been to this restaurant you absolutely have to go. The ambiance was spot on, minimal light and very cozy, our experience was incredible. My husband and I started with Massaman curry and roti bread, it’s great for sharing. He had their Pad Thai and I had the Massaman curry with jasmine rice. And for dessert we had a Thai tea crème-brû-lèe. They have a few locations, we went to the one in midtown. Click on the link to make a reservation. This is a great place to go to for date night or to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. I would 110% go back.
Momo Cafe
Momonoki Cafe focuses on casual Japanese comfort fare, the name Momonoki translates to Peachtree in English. Their cafe has two divided areas, one for food and one for sweet treats. I love their modern interior design and minimalistic aesthetic. They have a second floor that looks like a great study spot. It was raining so hard that day and the food warmed us right up. I had the Sichuan Beef Mazamen with a hot Mocha and my husband had the Momonoki Tonkotsu. If you love aesthetics and good food, try this place out.
Yebo Beach House
Unlike Charlotte, where I live, Atlanta Georgia has quite a few restaurants that embrace South African cuisine. And me being South African, I had to try at least one. Yebo is located in the heart of The Avalon in Alpharetta. They have a dress code, look for it in the link I provided. I love a good restaurant with good food. For starters we had Crab dip and Mussels, both were delicious. I just didn’t like the chips that came with the dip. I had the Crab Sacchettoni with a Espresso Martini that had Amarula in it. It tasted like home. Yebo is definitely a lot more upscale than all the other restaurants we’ve tried.
Cultivate food and coffee
I mentioned in the beginning of the post what a sucker I am for instagramable spots. Cultivate food and coffee is exactly that, minimalistic and beautiful brunch and coffee spot. I had the Nashville Hot chicken and waffles with chai and let’s just say I had the itis immediately after I got done eating. It was scrumptious.
The works
My husband’s friend recommended that we try some food at The works, we ended up trying a whole lot. We had a crab and lobster sandwich that we shared. We each had two Boba drinks, a lot of food and sweet treats. There’s so much to try here.
World of Coca Cola
Now that we’re done talking about food, let’s go back to exploring more of Atlanta Georgia. I’ve always wanted to visit the World of Coca Cola to learn about it’s history. My husband and I had a great time to say the least, we learned so much about Coke and now we sip it in our home haha. Seriously though, this was $20 well spent.
There’s somewhat of a tour guide in the very beginning, he shares some insight on Coke and tells you what to expect during your visit. Listen closely when he tells you all the flavors you should try because at the end of the tour you get to try over 100 flavors and you get to drink as much as you want. Here are some things to look forward to:

- Polar bear- meet and have your photo taken with the Coca Cola Polar Bear
- The loft- Learn about the rich heritage of Coca Cola with artifacts from yesterday and today
- Coca Cola Theater- 6 minute film of the most memorable moments around the world
- The Vault of the secret formula
- Milestones and Refreshments
At the end of the tour you get to visit the Coca Cola store, they have decorative items, apparel, accessories and so much more.
Our stay in Atlanta Georgia was quite a treat. We had a great time.
