Equipment

  • 1 Large Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • 1 Dough Scraper
  • 1 Baking pan
  • 1 Bread Maker
  • 1 Cooling Rack

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups Warm water Not boiling water
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tsp Olive Oil
  • 1 3/3 cups All purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp Yeast
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • Honey For Topping
  • Red Chili Flakes For Topping

Instructions

  • Add the wet ingredients to the bread machine.
  • Start by pouring the water into the bread machine pan.
  • Add the honey and olive oil.
  • Adding the liquids first helps ensure that the dough ingredients mix together properly during the kneading process.
  • Add the dry ingredients.
  • Add the all-purpose flour, making sure it covers most of the liquid. Add the yeast and salt on top.
  • Select the dough cycle.
  • Close the bread machine and select the dough cycle.
  • Allow the machine to knead and mix the ingredients until the cycle is complete and the machine turns off. That takes about 30 minutes.
  • The dough should be soft, stretchy and slightly tacky to the touch.
  • Allow the dough to rise.
  • Once the dough cycle is complete, leave the dough inside the bread machine for an additional hour to rise. This gives it additional time to develop its texture and flavor.
  • If your machine has already included a rising period in its cycle, allow the dough to rest until it has become noticeably puffy.
  • Transfer and fold the dough.
  • Lightly oil your hands to prevent the dough from sticking. Carefully remove the dough from the bread machine and transfer it to a lightly oiled bowl.
  • Gently fold the dough over a couple of times. You don't need to knead it again, the goal is to bring the dough together and create structure while keeping as much air as possible.
  • Prepare your baking pan and allow it to rise.
  • Generously coat your baking pan with olive oil, making sure the bottom and sides are covered.
  • Transfer the dough into the pan and gently stretch it towards the edges.
  • Don't worry if it doesn't reach the edges yet.
  • Place the pan in a warm, draft-free spot, and allow the dough to rise for approximately one hour. During this time, it should become airy, softer, and puffier.
  • Once the dough has had time to rise, preheat your oven to 410 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Remove the pan from the warm resting spot before turning on the oven if you used it for proofing.
  • Drizzle a generous amount of olive oil over the surface of the risen dough. Lightly oil your fingertips and gently press deep dimples across the entire surface.
  • Drizzle honey evenly over the dough, allowing some of it to settle into the dimples. Finish with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. You can adjust the amount depending on how sweet or spicy you like it.
  • Place the pan in your preheated oven and bake for 18-25 minutes, or until Focaccia is beautifully golden on top and cooked through.
  • Keep an eye on it towards the end of baking, as oven temperature and pan sizes can affect cooking time.
  • Remove the Focaccia from the oven and let it rest 15 minuts before serving
