- 2 cups water
- 1 cup Milk Whole milk/Oat milk
- 1/2 cup Maize Meal
- 1/2 cup Milk For the Slurry
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract Adds so much flavor to the soft porridge
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 3 tbsp White Sugar
Bring the 2 cups of water and milk to a boil in a medium pot
In a bowl, mix the maize meal with 1/2 cup of milk to form a smooth slurry. This helps prevent lumps.
Add Vanilla extract to the slurry
Slowly pour the maize meal mixture into the boiling water/milk, stirring with a wooden spoon for 5-10 minutes until porridge thickens slightly and becomes soft and creamy
Add butter and sugar to taste, still well, and serve warm.
